EAST STROUDSBURG – Former East Stroudsburg University RHP Matt Festa collected his first MLB victory for the Seattle Mariners on Sunday afternoon against the Toronto Blue Jays at T-Mobile Park.
Making his 50th career appearance, Festa fired a 1-2-3 inning 8th inning, recording a strikeout against Lourdes Gurriel Jr. and getting a pair of groundouts.
Festa made his MLB debut back on July 14, 2018 and has pitched to a 4.47 ERA across 52.1 innings while recording 57 strikeouts.
Festa rejoined the Mariners Club on Saturday that now has a record of 45-42 after winning eight consecutive games. The Mariners are 12 games behind the Houston Astros in the American League West and currently hold the No. 3 spot in the AL Wild Card race.
Festa, the highest MLB Draft pick in ESU history when he was selected by Seattle in the seventh round in 2016, is in his sixth professional season.
