Women’s Track & Field Adds PSAC Qualifiers at Gulden Invitational

LEWISBURG – The East Stroudsburg University women's track and field team added four more PSAC qualifiers on Saturday as the Warriors competed at the Gulden Invitational, hosted by Bucknell inside Gerhard Fieldhouse.

Notching PSAC automatic qualifying marks or times for the Warriors was Ariel Kyle (200m), Kamya Edmonds (triple jump), Madison Horahan (shot put) and Zionette Salahuddin (weight throw).

Running Highlights
After advancing to the finals in the 60m hurdles, Jeanette Jones ultimately recorded a fifth place finish after crossing the line in 9.07. In the prelims, Jones recorded a personal-best time of 9.05.

Destiny Thompson finished just shy of her personal-best time 60m as the graduate student took fifth at 7.78 seconds.  

Following the conversion in the 200m, Kyle finished with a PSAC qualifying time of 26.31 (25.91) while taking ninth overall in the event.

Megan Elgrim took 10th in the 800m as the freshman notched a time of 2:41.22.

In the 5000m, Jada Williams recorded an eighth place finish with a time of 21:48.91, while Samantha Brawner finished right behind in ninth at 22:23.50.

The Warriors closed out the day on the track with a 10th place finish in 4x400m as Lauren Reed, Kayla Horning, Jones and Maya Girdy clocked a time of 4:23.55.

Field Event Highlights
Edmonds picked up right where she left off a week ago as the senior finished third in the triple jump with a PSAC qualifying mark of 11.41m (37-5 ¼), which also ranks fourth in program history.

In the shot put, two-time All American Elizabeth Makar finished as the runner-up with a toss of 13.35m (43-9 ¾), while Horahan notched a conference qualifying mark in her season-debut at 12.24m (40-2).

The Warriors dominated the weight throw, led by Makar in third place with a mark of 16.09m (52-9 ½). Samiyah Little followed in fifth after recording the eighth-best toss school history at 15.00m (49-2 ½) and Salahuddin finished with a PSAC provisional mark of 14.45m (47-5) in seventh.

Nickolina Annelli improved her season-best height in the pole vault as the senior cleared the bar at 3.51m (11-6 ¼) to finish third.

The Warriors return to Lewisburg the following weekend for the Bison Open and Multi on Friday and Saturday at Gerhard Fieldhouse.
