Little Captures First Place in Weight Throw at Bison Open & Multi

LEWISBURG – Samiyah Little had herself a day in the weight throw as she captured first place in the event while also breaking the freshman record as the East Stroudsburg University women's track and field team concluded competition at the Bison Open and Multi, hosted by Bucknell on Saturday inside Gerhard Fieldhouse.

Additionally, graduate student Jeanette Jones notched a PSAC automatic qualifying time in the 400m.

Running Highlights

Jones notched her second conference qualifying mark of the indoor season as the graduate student posted a time of 1:00.08 on her way to taking third in the 400m.

In the 4x400m, the combination of Jones, Kayla Horning, Ariel Kyle and Destiny Thompson crossed the line in 4:07.22 to take third.  

In the 60m, Horning missed qualifying for the finals by .05 seconds as the sophomore finished in a tie for ninth with a time of 8.19.

Field Event Highlights

In addition to winning the weight throw, Little notched the sixth-best mark in school history at 15.84m (51-11 ¾). Madison Horahan finished in a tie for sixth with a throw of 14.51m (47-7 ¼) and Zionette Salahuddin took ninth (14.27m – 46-10).

On her way to a runner-up finish in the long jump, senior Kamya Edmonds recorded the second best mark in program history at 5.52m (18-1 ½) on both her second and third attempts.

Edmonds returned to the sand pit for the triple jump as she finished fourth with a leap of 11.16m (36-7 ½)
