Warriors Topple UDC in Non-Conference Clash

EAST STROUDSBURG – The East Stroudsburg University men's soccer team registered a goal in each half and blanked District of Columbia during the 90-minute contest in a 2-0 win over the Firebirds on Wednesday afternoon at Eiler-Martin Stadium.

With the win, the Warriors (5-0-4, 1-0-4) remain undefeated. The Firebirds fall to 3-5-3 on the season in the non-conference loss.

Trevor Paone and Ignasi Cucurella Tuset both tallied goals in the 2-0 victory.

Notables
  • Paone registered his second goal of the season in the first half against the Firebirds.
  • The Warriors added an insurance goal during the second half, with Ignasi Cucurella Tuset rocketing in his fifth goal of the season. Cayetano Diaz contributed an assist on the play.
  • In goal, ESU GK Helgi Hermannsson (2-0-2) made a pair of saves in the clean sheet. His counterpart, Bronson Shepherd posted two five saves.
  • ESU led in shots (18-9), shots on goal (7-2) and corners (5-3).
  • The Warriors were charged with the lone yellow card during the 75th minute of action.
  • The shutout for ESU is its third of the season.
