INDIANAPOLIS, IN. – The East Stroudsburg University men's wrestling team wrapped up competition at UIndy's 44th Midwest Classic on Sunday inside Nicoson Hall.
Freshman
Layton Schmick (285) returned as the Warriors' lone wrestler on the second day but dropped a consolation match to Newberry's ninth-ranked Devon Rice, 5-1, ending his run.
Schmick finished the tournament 2-2 which included an upset victory over Notre Dame's sixth-ranked La'Ron Park in his first match.
The Midwest Classic featured an extremely strong field as 21 of the 51 teams appeared in the latest NWCA Division II Top 25 with seven of the top 10 teams in the field.

- Schmick, who was honored as the PSAC Wrestling Athlete of the Week this season on December 5, moved to 17-3 overall headed into the break
