LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – After leading the East Stroudsburg University men's basketball team to a pair of wins on the week, the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference announced on Wednesday afternoon that
Lakeem McAliley and
Jaelen McGlone both earned weekly honors from the PSAC.
McAliley was tabbed the PSAC East Athlete of the Week, while McGlone was named the PSAC East Defensive Athlete of the Week their contributions in wins over Clarion and Pitt-Johstown.
In wins over the Golden Eagles and Mountain Cats, McAliley averaged 27.5 points, 9.0 rebounds, 1.5 steals, 1.5 assists, and a block in an average of just 25.3 minutes per game. The Philadelphia product shot an efficient 70.4 percent (19-27 FG) from the floor, 66.7 percent from 3-point land (4-6) and knocked down 13-15 free throw attempts. He became just the fifth Warrior to record his 1,000th career point at ESU during his junior season against Clarion. He posted season-highs in scoring in both contests, nearing his career high with a double-double performance of 32 points and 11 rebounds against UPJ.
McGlone averaged 19.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and 5.0 steals per game, all while turning the ball over just three times in a total of 43:47 of on-court time. He sunk 72.2 percent of his field goal attempts (13-18), 62.5 percent of his 3-pointers (5-8), and 72.7 percent of his free throw attempts (8-11). He totaled six steals against Clarion, which is tied for the second-most in the
Jeff Wilson era (since 2002-03) and swiped possession four times against UPJ.
In just two games, the duo totaled 94 points, 25 rebounds, six assists, 13 steals and two blocks in just over 94 minutes combined on the court. The two sharpshooters shot efficiently, converting 32-45 field goal attempts (71.1%), 9-14 from 3-point range (64.2%) and 80.8 percent (21-26) from the stripe.
McAliley earned his first PSAC East weekly honor of the season and the sixth overall of his career. McGlone's conference weekly award is the first of his career at ESU.
The Warriors (7-1, 3-1 PSAC) are idle for the holiday season until Sat., Dec. 30, when ESU hosts defending PSAC Champion IUP (7-3, 4-0 PSAC) at 3:00 p.m.
