HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. – Junior Luke Ciampa (165) and freshman Layton Schmick (285) won their respective weight classes as part of a strong showing for the East Stroudsburg University men's wrestling team at the Bob Quade Cyclone Open, hosted by Centenary, on Sunday from the John M. Reeves Student Recreation Center.

Ciampa and Schmick went a perfect 4-0 on their way to capturing titles while the Warriors had 11 additional wrestlers earn top-six finishes.

Zach Lewis finished as the runner-up at 149 while Ajay Hiller (197), Justin Halbert (165), Eric Falleni (157) and Ben Makaritis (133) all were third. Sergio Cespedes (165), Matthew Richardson (197), and Jacob Remolina (149) notched fourth place finishes while Robert Burke took fifth place at 174. David Pierson (285) and Joshua Montesino (157) were sixth in their respective weight classes.

Notables

• Schmick continued to impress in first season with the Warriors as the Carlise native improved to 11-1 overall with seven pins while capturing his second first-place finish of the year (1st – ESU Open)
• Ciampa moved to 47-14 overall in his third season and registered his fourth first-place finish of his career (2022-23 – Albion Invitational (1st), Nassau Open (1st), Will Abele Invitational (1st))
