New Scoring Record for Warriors Secures Win Over Caldwell on Senior Day

EAST STROUDSBURG – The East Stroudsburg University acrobatics and tumbling team showed out in their home-opener as the Warriors notched their highest point total in program history to defeat Caldwell, 242.335-142.700, on Sunday evening inside Koehler Fieldhouse.  

Eclipsing their previous program-high by 18.330 points, the Warriors improved to 1-3 overall while the Cougars drop to 0-3 in their inaugural season.

At the conclusion of the team event, ESU honored five seniors including Tiona Brown, Courtney da Silva, Hannah Gold, Gianna Mattia and Johanna Vializ.



How it Happened
  • ESU got their home opener underway with a bang as the Warriors posted their highest point total in program history for the Compulsory Event with a 35.95. The Warriors had scores of 9.25 (Acro), 9.75 (Pyramid), 9.70 (Toss) and 7.25 (Tumbling)
     
  • The Warriors carried their momentum over into the Acro Event, totaling a program-best 26.95 points after recording an 8.90, 8.50 and 9.55 across the 5 Element, 6 Element and 7 Element
     
  • Headed into the halftime, ESU held a 90.65-74.40 lead over Caldwell after the Warriors posted a 27.75 in the three heats of the Pyramid Event which included values of 9.35 (Inversion), 8.80 (Synchronized) and 9.60 (Open)
     
  • The excellent day continued out of the break for ESU as the Warriors recorded a program-best 25.800 points in with Toss Event, notching 8.60 in 450 Salto, 8.40 in Synchronized and 8.80 in Open
     
  • Caldwell edged ESU in the Tumbling Event, 44.400-43.875 but the Warriors posted scores of 7.900 (Duo Pass), 5.850 (Trio Pass), 6.300 (Quad Pass), 8.575 (Aerial Pass), 7.050 (6 Element Pass) and 8.200 (Open Pass)
     
  • Surpassing the 80.0 point mark in the Team Event for the first time in program history, ESU produced an 82.01 to finish the meet with a total of 242.335

The Warriors are back on the road next Sunday with a trip to Fairmont State. ESU takes on the Falcons at 1 p.m. inside the Feaster Center
