FAIRMONT, W.V. – The East Stroudsburg University acrobatics and tumbling team put up a strong fight, achieving program-high scores in the Toss and Tumbling events. However, the Warriors suffered a setback at seventh-ranked Fairmont State, 268.815-238.610, on Sunday afternoon inside the Feaster Center.
Squaring off against their third nationally ranked opponent of the season, the Warriors fell to 1-4 while the Falcons bounced back following their first loss, moving to 6-1 overall.
How it Happened
- ESU started the meet by totaling 33.50 points in the Compulsory Event as the Warriors posted scores of 9.05 (Acro), 9.50 (Pyramid), 9.60 (Toss) and 5.35 (Tumbling).
- Moving into the Acro Event, ESU scored 26.95 points after notching a 9.05 in the 5 Element an 8.40 in the 6 Element and 9.20 in the 7 Element
- At halftime, Fairmont State held a slim lead over ESU at 95.00-87.95 as the Warriors matched their season-high with 27.80 points in the Pyramid Event. ESU recorded scores of 9.35 (Inversion), 9.10 (Synchronized) and 9.35 (Open)
- ESU improved on their program-best mark in the Toss Event as the Warriors totaled 26.30 points after scoring 8.75 in 450 Salto, 8.65 in Synchronized and 8.90 in Open
- The Warriors carried their momentum over into the Tumbling Event, tallying a school record 44.100 points with scores of 7.800 (Duo Pass), 6.150 (Trio Pass), 6.500 (Quad Pass), 8.375 (Aerial Pass), 7.175 (6 Element Pass) and 8.100 (Open Pass)
- ESU closed out the afternoon by totaling 80-plus points in the Team Event for the second straight meet with 80.26 to bring their total score to 238.610
