MILLERSVILLE – Elizabeth Makar recorded a first place finish in the shot put and the East Stroudsburg University women's track and field team added four additional conference qualifiers at the Millersville Metrics on Saturday at Biemesderfer Stadium.
Posting PSAC automatic qualifying marks and times for the Warriors were Megan Elgrim (3,00m steeplechase), Hannah Frankenfield (pole vault), Zionette Salahuddin (hammer throw) and Makar (shot put).
Running Highlights
Elgrim impressed in the 3000m steeplechase as the freshman finished as the runner-up with a PSAC qualifying time of 12:20.34.
In the 400m, Ariel Kyle took sixth after clocking a time of 1:00.80.
Field Event Highlights
Makar highlighted the field events for ESU after capturing a first place in the shot put and recording a conference qualifying throw of 13.46m (44-2).
In the pole vault, Heather Gaughran earned a runner up finish, clearing the bar at the fifth-best mark in program history at 3.50m (11-5 ¾), while Frankenfield took fourth place with a PSAC qualifying height of 3.20m (10-6).
Recording a season-best mark in the hammer throw, Makar was the runner-up with a toss of 49.02m (160-10). Salahuddin had career day in the event with a conference qualifying and personal-best mark of 45.79m (150-3). Samiyah Little rounded out the finishes in ninth at 43.10m (141-5).
Edmonds notched a fourth place finish in the triple jump after recording a leap of 10.57m (34-8 ¼).
Salahuddin returned to post a season-best mark of 35.29m (115-9) in the discus on her way to an eighth place finish.
In the javelin, Olivia Sforza finished just inside the top-10 in ninth with a season-best throw of 37.06m (121-7).
