LEWISBURG – Highlighted by Nickolina Annelli winning the pole vault and Jeanette Jones clocking a NCAA provisional time in the 400m hurdles, the East Stroudsburg University women's track and field team wrapped up the three-day Bison Outdoor Classic on Sunday at Christy Matthewson-Memorial Stadium.
Running Highlights
In the 100m hurdles, Jones recorded a third place finish with a time of 14.84. She returned with another impressive performance in the 400m hurdles as the graduate student finished third with a personal-best and NCAA provisional time of 1:01.76.
Ariel Kyle finished 56th in the 200m and clocked a season-best and PSAC automatic qualifying time time of 26.06.
In the distance events, Megan Elgrim posted a time of 11:09.61 in the 3000m while Jada Williams (20th – 5:54.08) and Samantha Brawner (25th - 6:05.12) competed in the mile.
Field Highlights
Annelli took first place in the pole vault (non-invitational) and matched her school record in the event after clearing 3.65m (11-11 ¾) on her second attempt. Senior Heather Gaughran took seventh after equaling her season-best height of 3.50m (11-5 ¾).
On her way to a runner-up finish in the shot put, two-time All-America Elizabeth Makar improved on her NCAA provisional throw with a mark of 14.15m (46-5 ¼) on her fourth attempt. Slippery Rock's Sarah Corrie captured first place with her final throw as the senior and Makar went back and forth.
Returning for the hammer throw, Makar took third and was six inches shy of matching her school record in the event with a throw of 51.90m (170-3).
Olivia Sforza finished just outside the top-10 in the javelin, taking 12th with a mark of 39.26m (128-10) on her second attempt.
