EAST STROUDSBURG – The East Stroudsburg University baseball team was listed in the first edition of the 2023 NCAA Atlantic Region rankings unveiled on Wednesday. The NCAA regional rankings are annually used to determine the teams that qualify for the NCAA Division II Baseball Championships.
New this year for the regional rankings, schools are listed as under consideration in alphabetical order for the first ranking of the season.
ESU is seeking back-to-back NCAA Tournament berths for the first time in program history. Additionally, the Warriors would make their sixth appearance all-time (1985, 2011, 2013, 2016, 2022).
In this week's polls, the Warriors were receiving votes in the NCBWA Top 25 and No. 4 in the NCBWA Atlantic Region Poll. ESU was ranked No. 20 in the Collegiate Baseball Division II Poll and as high as No. 8 in the Perfect Game Top 25.
ESU is tied with Millersville and Seton Hill for the best ERA in Division II at 3.15 and the Warriors are second in the country for fielding percentage at 0.982. Additionally, the Warriors are third in stolen bases (152), third in stolen bases per game (3.80), 10th in WHIP (1.28), 14th in strikeout-to-walk-ratio (2.60) and 15th in hits allowed per nine innings (8.01).
