Makar Notches NCAA Provisional Mark on Saturday at Dalton Ebanks Invitational

FAIRFAX, Va. – Junior Elizabeth Makar recorded an NCAA provisional throw in the shot put as the East Stroudsburg University women's track and field team concluded the Dalton Ebanks Invitational on Saturday at George Mason Stadium.

One day after eclipsing her own school record, Makar returned in impressive fashion as the junior took first place in the shot put with an NCAA provisional mark of 14.05m (46-1 ¼).

Posting PSAC automatic qualifying marks for the Warriors was Destiny Thompson (100m, 200m) and Kamya Edmonds (triple jump).

­Running Highlights

Making her outdoor debut for the Warriors, Thompson posted a fourth place finish in the 100m after notching a PSAC qualifying and seventh fastest time in program history at 12.23. Thompson was back on the track for the 200m and posted her second conference qualifying time of the afternoon, taking ninth in the event with the eighth quickest mark in school history at 25.26.

Jeanette Jones took fifth in the 100m hurdles as the graduate student crossed the line in 14.77. Jones returned to the track for the 400m hurdles where she took third with a personal-best time of 1:02.46. The Middlesex, N.J. native's mark still ranks third all-time in program history and was 0:00.13 shy of a NCAA provisional mark.

In the 4x100m, Jones, Thompson, Kayla Horning and Ariel Kyle recorded a sixth place finish after clocking a time of 49.40.

Field Event Highlights

On her way to a first place finish in the shot put, which included a field of Division I throwers, Makar posted a season-best mark of 14.05m (46-1 ¼).

Olivia Sforza was the runner-up in the javelin after she recorded a season-best throw of 40.44m (132-8).

Edmonds notched her second PSAC qualifying leap of the outdoor season, this time in the triple jump as the junior finished eighth at 11.28m (37-0 ¼).

Taking eighth place in the pole vault, Nickolina Annelli cleared the bar at a season-best height of 3.38m (11-1).

Lehigh Games Highlights

The distance runners headed to the Lehigh Games on Saturday as Megan Elgrim took 24th in the 1500m with a time of 5:09.93, while Carolina Kaczmarek was 20th in the 400m after crossing the line in 1:04.89. In the 5000m, Jada Williams secured a 11th place finish at 20:30.16 and Samantha Brawner was right behind in 12th with a time of 21:15.46.
