EAST STROUDSBURG – East Stroudsburg University baseball outfielder Ben Piripavel was named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team, the organization unveiled on Tuesday.
The organization was formerly known as the College Sports Information Directors of America.
The Bethlehem native became the seventh overall and fifth individual in program history to be an Academic All-District selection, joining Christian Rishel (2019), Jay Young (2015), Eric Boyer (2011-13) and Bill Hezel (2009).
In the classroom, Piripavel maintained a cumulative grade point average of 3.613 and graduated with his bachelors degree in business management back on Saturday, May 6.
On the diamond this season, Piripavel has played in 47 games and made 43 starts. The redshirt junior is hitting .250 with a .454 on-base percentage and .303 slugging percentage. Piripavel has recorded 33 hits, including five doubles and one triple to go along with 11 RBI, 39 runs and 45 walks, On the base paths, Piripavel is 30-for-35, bringing his career steals total to 84, which ranks second all-time in program history.
Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced June 7.
