EAST STROUDSBURG – East Stroudsburg University baseball standout Chase Nowak continued to accumulate accolades as the graduate student was named the NCBWA All-Atlantic Region Pitcher of the Year, the organization announced on Wednesday.
Along with being tabbed to the First Team for the second consecutive season, Nowak became just the second Warrior in program history to be named the Pitcher of the Year as Jeremy Gigliotti received the honors in 2011. Junior right handed pitcher Tom Reisinger was a Second Team selection.
Nowak continued to become one of the most decorated players in program history as the Wilkes-Barre native has now amassed NCBWA All-Atlantic Region and PSAC East Pitcher of the Year honors in the last two weeks. A two-time NCBWA All-Atlantic Region and PSAC East First Team selection, Nowak anchors the top pitching staff in the country with an 8-3 record, 19th-best ERA in Division II at 2.10, and 78 strikeouts over 77.0 innings of work.
In his final season with the Warriors, Nowak set the program records for wins (27), strikeouts (298), innings pitched (264.2) and games started (51).
After being named to the All-PSAC East First Team a week ago, Reisinger garners All-Region honors for the first time in career, pitching to a 6-2 record and 2.79 ERA to go along with 89 strikeouts, which ranks 35th in the country, in 67.2 innings.
The Warriors, who were ranked 22nd in today's NCBWA Top 25, are set to battle Mercyhurst in the first round of the Atlantic Regional tomorrow at 2:30 p.m. from SHU Baseball Complex.
