CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – On Friday the National Fastpitch Coaches Association announced that the East Stroudsburg University softball coaches were honored as the ATEC/NFCA Atlantic Region Coaching Staff of the Year, after leading the Warriors to 43 wins to date in the historic 2023 season.

Led by eighth year head coach Jaime Wohlbach, the Warriors have ascended to new heights in 2023, earning the program's fourth NCAA Tournament selection, took hosting rights as the No. 1 seed in the region for both the NCAA Regional and NCAA Super Regional rounds, along with capturing the team's first ever regional title and a trip to its NCAA Softball Championships.

Joining Wohlbach on the staff in helping the Warriors elevate to another level are third-year assistant coach Erica Molinaro, first-year volunteer assistant coach Bo Vicendese, and graduate assistant Rachel Seiverd. It's the first time an ESU Softball Coaching staff has been honored by the NFCA. Prior to the season, ESU was selected to finish sixth in the PSAC East Preseason Poll.

Along with the accomplishments above, Wohlbach and staff have led ESU to a program records for wins, posting a 43-18 record in 2023 to date. Since Wohlbach took the helm of the Warriors in 2016, ESU has posted a record of 184-150, but have reached a new level of success in the past three seasons, with a combined record of 106-45 (70.2 winning percentage) since 2021. In that span, the Warriors have matched or set a record for wins in each campaign, doubling its NCAA Tournament selections with trips in 2021 and 2023.

Wohlbach – who spent a combined eight seasons NCAA Division Iona and Delaware – was named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Coach of the Year while leading the Gaels in 2010 to the program's first NCAA Tournament appearance. While at Delaware, she guided the Blue Hens to the second most wins in program history (35) in 2013. The Lehigh Valley native ranks second all-time at ESU with 184 wins, as she closes in on Jone Bush's (1976-88) 208-win total.

ESU looks to remain alive in the NCAA Softball Championships on Saturday, taking on Nova Southeastern in an elimination game at 1:30 p.m. at Frost Stadium in Chattanooga, Tenn. With a win, the Warriors would play at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday in another elimination contest.
