Tom Reisinger Selected in 10th Round of MLB Draft by Oakland Athletics

EAST STROUDSBURG – Following a breakout junior campaign, East Stroudsburg University right-handed pitcher Tom Reisinger was selected in the 10th round (pick 286) of the 2023 Major League Baseball Draft by the Oakland Athletics on Monday afternoon.

Reisinger becomes the eighth ESU player selected in the MLB Draft and seventh under 16th-year head coach John Kochmansky.

In the 2023, the Kulpmont native earned All-PSAC East and ABCA/Rawlings All-Atlantic Region First Team honors as well as a D2CCA and NCBWA All-Atlantic Region Second Team selections. In 17 appearances (13 starts) he posted a 6-2 record with a 2.64 ERA over 71.2 innings. Reisinger recorded a team-high 97 strikeouts which ranked first in the PSAC and 27th in NCAA Division II.

In three seasons with the Warriors, Reisinger finished with a 12-9 record, 4.50 ERA, 150.0 innings pitched and 202 strikeouts which ranks sixth all-time in program history. Among additional career rankings in the record book, he is second in strikeouts per nine innings (12.1), fifth in hits allowed per nine innings (7.8), 13th in strikeout-to-walk ratio (2.2), 17th in winning percentage (.571), 20th in ERA (4.50), 26th in innings pitched (150.0) and 26th in wins (12).

Reisinger is the third ESU player selected by Oakland, joining outfielder Robert Bennie (24th round - 2016) and Joe Bennie (28th round - 2013).

Through 10 rounds of this year's MLB draft, Reisinger was the third NCAA Division II player selected.

Since 2009, ESU's seven MLB draft picks are the third most in the PSAC.

Matt Festa was the highest ESU player selected in the seventh round back in the 2016 MLB Draft.
