STARA ZAGORA, Bulgaria – Following 23 games with the Indios SFM of the Dominican Republic's Liga Nacional de Baloncesto this past summer, East Stroudsburg University alumnus Carlos Pepin is now headed to Southeastern Europe to play for BC Beroe Strara Zagora of the Bulgarian National Basketball League and the Balkan League.
During his first professional action, averaged 3.0 points, 2.1 rebounds. 0.5 assists, playing an average of 8.9 minutes per contest. He posted a season-high of 12 points against Caneros, while grabbing eight rebounds in a matchup against Leones.
Pepin earned All-PSAC East First Team honors the past two seasons, along with collecting NABC All-Region First Team honors during the 2022-23 season. Pepin ranked ninth in the country in double-doubles with 14 on the season, leading the Warriors in both scoring (17.4 ppg) and rebounding (9.0 rpg) as ESU earned a berth into the NCAA Tournament for the eighth time in program history.
This past season, Pepin's 587 points rank sixth most in a single season (most since Jonathan Roberts' season record of 689 in 1989-90). His 287 rebounds rank eighth among Warriors in a single season, with his output being the highest since the all-time leading rebounder Roberts posted 332 in 1989-90.
Pepin finished his career ranked 18th in total points at ESU, 10th in rebounds, 13th in field goals made, 11th in steals and fifth in 20-point games (since 2002-03).
BC Beroe posted a 14-16 record in the NBL and a 5-7 record in the Balkan League in 2022-23. The squad advanced to the NBL quarterfinals, while Beroe earned a win in the third-place game in the Balkan League a season ago.
