BETHLEHEM – The East Stroudsburg University women's track and field team took first place in five events and added a trio of PSAC automatic qualifying marks on Saturday at the Moravian Indoor Meet at Rauch Field House (at Lehigh).
Capturing first place finishes in their respective events were Elizabeth Makar (shot put), Samiyah Little (weight throw), Destiny Thompson (200m), DMR and 4x400m relay teams.
PSAC Automatic Qualifiers
A trio of Warriors collected PSAC automatic qualifying times and marks including Thompson (200m), Makar (shot put) and Heather Gaughran (pole vault).
Running Highlights
Thompson recorded one of three first place victories on the track today for the Warriors as the graduate student claimed the top spot in the 200m with a PSAC automatic qualifying time of 25.33. Freshman Chloe Domurat claimed a ninth place finish at 26.75 and junior Kayala Horning was just out the top-10 in 11th with a time of 26.91.
ESU's top team in the Distance Medley Relay, which featured Megan Elgrim, Kiera Wimbush, Kelly Martin and Payton Falkenstein, combined to run a time of 12:58.30 on the way to taking the top spot.
On the way to ESU taking first place in the 4x400m, Aaliyah Cancel, Kayla Horning, Alycia Smith and Thompson collectively clocked a time of 4:09.05.
Freshman Carla Bautista (2:25.96) and Hannah Skelly (2:26.09) highlighted the 800m for ESU with third and fourth place finishes respectively, while graduate student Holly Chambers was a few seconds behind in seventh with a time of 2:29.10.
In the 400m, Cancel paced four Warriors' runners as the freshman claimed a fourth place finish with a personal-best time of 1:00.40.
In the 60m hurdles, freshman Makayla Smith took third with a personal-best time of 9.67 and senior Elyssa Pemu was seventh after crossing the line in 10.02.
A pair of Warriors finished in the top-11 of the 60m dash as Domurat took ninth with a personal-best time of 8.16 while Horning was 11th at 8.19.
In the mile, the Warriors recorded a trio of top-15 finishers led by sophomore Kelly Martin in ninth with a time of 5:36.12, while freshmen Gabriela Orama (5:40.49) and Kiera Wimbush (5:40.69) were not far behind in 13th and 14th place respectively. Freshman Mia Sisilli posted an eighth place finish in the 3000m with a time of 11:09.38.
Field Event Highlights
On her way to a first-place finish in the shot put, Makar recorded a PSAC automatic qualifying mark of 13.31m (43-8) and fellow classmate Madison Horahan finished as the runner-up with a season-best throw of 11.75m (38-6 ¾). Freshman Trinity Lucas finished just outside the top-10 in 11th after notching a toss of 10.02m (32-10 ½).
The Warriors went 1-2 in the weight throw as Little posted the top mark at 16.82m (55-2 ¼) while Makar followed as the runner-up with a throw of 16.20m (53-1 ¾). Freshman Sarah Roth secured an 11th place finish with a personal-best toss of 13.04m (42-9 ½).
In the pole vault, ESU posted three of the top-7 finishers led by Gaughran, who was the runner-up with a PSAC automatic qualifying mark of 3.49m (11-5 ¼), which also matches her personal-best. Senior Nickolina Annelli was tied for fourth place at 3.34m (10-11 ½) and freshman Reese Ruggiero took seventh with a personal-best height of 3.19m (10-5 ½).
In the sand pit, freshman Samantha Rosado captured a third place finish in her triple jump debut with a mark of 10.52m (34-6 ¼), while fellow classmate Anna Roth was seventh at 10.36m (34-0).
The Warriors had a pair finish just outside the top-10 in the long jump as Pemu took 11th with a leap of 4.77m (15-7 ¾) while freshman Samantha Rosado (4.75m (15-7) finished 12th.
