EAST STROUDSBURG – East Stroudsburg University men's basketball head coach
Jeff Wilson announced that the ESU coaching staff will be participating in the American Cancer Society's Coaches vs. Cancer - Suits and Sneakers Week on Saturday's game against Millersville at Koehler Fieldhouse.
The nationwide event unites coaches across the country to raise funds and awareness about the fight against cancer and promotes the American Cancer Society as a source of inspiration and hope for those facing cancer. While coaching games during the week, coaches wear sneakers with their suits as a visible reminder of their support of the American Cancer Society.
"Coaches VS. Cancer and the Suits and Sneaker Week has significance to our program in a number of ways," said ESU head coach
Jeff Wilson of the annual event.
"Each year our program looks to support cancer research as it has directly impacted many of our players and staff in the ones we love. Specifically, Ryan Smith, was a member of our basketball family and had a Relentless battle with AML Leukemia before passing. As a program, we are committed to raising awareness of cancer research and one day finding a cure."
The No. 19/9 Warriors battle Millersville on Saturday at 3:00 p.m., with both teams currently sitting atop the PSAC East standings with Lock Haven, holding identical 9-2 PSAC records. The contest will be broadcased regionally on Blue Ridge TV-13 and nationally on the PSAC Sports Digital Network.
