1/29/2024 2:44:00 PM

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Following a pair of PSAC victories over Bloomsburg and Millersville that improved the No. 19/9 East Stroudsburg University men's basketball team's record to 16-2, the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference announced on Monday afternoon that Lakeem McAliley and Jaelen McGlone were honored with weekly conference awards.

McAliley was tabbed the PSAC East Athlete of the Week, while McGlone takes home PSAC East Defensive Athlete of the Week honors. Monday's selections mark the second time this season both Warriors earned the honors during the same week.

In wins over the Huskies and Marauders, McAliley averaged 22.5 points, 2.5 rebounds, 3.5 steals, all while shooting above at a .667 clip and knocked down all 10 of his free throw attempts. The redshirt junior from Philadelphia has scored at least 20 points in his previous three contests and looks to become the first Warrior since Whis Grant in 2013-14 to record at least 20 points in four consecutive contests on Monday night. After scoring his 1,000th career point against Clarion on Dec. 18, McAliley is ascending the all-time career points list, entering Monday ranked 17th with 1,219 career points. McAliley's weekly honor is his second this season and has now earned weekly accolades eight times during his three-year career to date.

McGlone has been a menace defensively all season, earning his second weekly honor for his stout defense. He totaled six steals on the week with five against Bloomsburg. Off the glass, he averaged 6.0 rebounds. No slouch on offense, McGlone averaged 18.5 points per game in the two Warrior wins, shooting an efficient 58.6 percent from the floor. He led ESU with 22 points against Bloomsburg. The Cheltenham product ranks seventh nationally in steals per game (2.56) and 45th in field goal percentage (56.2%).

McAliley, McGlone and the rest of the Warriors are back in action on Monday night at 7:30 p.m. against Kutztown at Koehler Fieldhouse. Fans can watch the action regionally on Blue Ridge TV-13 and nationally on the PSAC Sports Digital Network.
