MILLERSVILLE, Pa. – After a dominant showing at West Chester on Friday night, the East Stroudsburg University volleyball team struggled to maintain momentum, falling 3-0 (25-15, 25-23, 25-15) to Millersville on Saturday afternoon at Pucillo Gymnasium.
The Warriors (13-5, 4-3 PSAC East) are now tied for third place in the PSAC East standings with Bloomsburg. The Marauders improved to 10-10 overall and 3-4 in PSAC East play.
Notables
- Anna Coulter led the Warriors with 11 kills on 25 attempts with three errors, posting a .320 hitting percentage. Defensively, the junior from Hershey added three blocks and six digs.
- Taylor Haan contributed six kills, 23 assists, a block, seven digs, and three aces.
- Makaela McComas (11 digs), Leonor Chambel (10 digs), and Kelly Crites (9 digs) combined for 30 of ESU's 53 total digs.
How It Happened
- Set 1 (25-15): Millersville came out strong with a six-point run to open the match. ESU managed to cut the deficit to three points early on, but the Marauders extended their lead to 11-5 and later 17-7, cruising to a 25-15 win in the first set.
- Set 2 (25-23): ESU held an 11-10 lead and later built a 17-12 advantage after a 6-2 run. However, Millersville responded with a 9-2 surge to take a 21-19 lead. ESU briefly regained the lead at 22-21, but the Marauders finished strong, winning four of the final five points to take the set, 25-23.
- Set 3 (25-15): The Warriors led 9-7 early in the final frame, but Millersville rallied to go up 12-9. With ESU trailing 14-12, the Marauders closed the match on an 11-3 run, sealing the sweep.
