Preview: 2024 PSAC XC Championships

EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. - The East Stroudsburg University men's and women's cross country teams head to Kutztown on Saturday for the 2024 PSAC Championships.

The championship will start with the men's 8k at 10 a.m., followed by the women's 6k at around 11 a.m.
The top 15 runners in each race will garner First Team All-PSAC honors, while the 16th-30th place finishers will receive Second Team All-PSAC recognition.

The men's team opened the season strong, finishing first at the Adelphi Panthers XC Invite and placing in the top half at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational (12th of 44) and the Paul Short Run (19th of 38).

Junior Landon Boyle has led the men's team and ran a 25:52.0 at the Paul Short Run, where he finished 54th out of 313 runners. In last year's championships, he placed 21st. ESU will bring Andrew Dowdell, Andrew Tatesure, Brian McGarrity, Evan Wooby, Ethan Holcomb, Bryce Keenoy, Nicholas Gdowik, Joe Walker, Justin Walters, Liam Hansberry and Jack Becker. The Warriors look to improve on its fourth-place finish from last season.

The women's team also started the season strong, claiming its second consecutive first-place finish at the Adelphi Panthers XC Invite and finishing in the top half at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational (12th of 45).

Graduate student Daniella Napoli has led the Warriors, and placed 19th out of 286 runners with a time of 22:00.1 at the Paul Short Run. ESU will bring Payton Falkenstein, Carla Bautista, Alex Chobany, Megan Elgrim, Kelly Martin, Tara Haring, Sidney Hutt, Riley Trentowski, Marissa McDougall, Mia Sisilli and Gabriela Orama to complete the squad and looks to build on its fourth-place finish from last year's championships.

Regional Rankings: The women's team is ranked No. 5 in the most recent (Oct. 16) U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Division II Atlantic Region Poll, while the men's team is ranked No. 8.
At the 2023 PSAC Championships, both the men's and women's teams finished fourth. The men were led by Boyle, who earned Second Team All-PSAC honors, while Bautista led the women's returners who also received Second Team All-PSAC recognition.
