EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. – For the second consecutive match, East Stroudsburg University volleyball won the opening set but could not maintain momentum, falling to Shippensburg, 3-1 (17-25, 25-21, 25-22, 25-12) on Saturday afternoon at Koehler Fieldhouse.
The Warriors (10-4, 1-2 PSAC East) will look to bounce back against Bloomsburg on Friday, Oct. 11. The Raiders (6-9, 2-1 PSAC East) earned their second consecutive conference win.
Notables
- Anna Coulter led the offense with 15 kills on just 24 attempts without committing an attack error. She also added four total blocks on defense.
- Kelly Crites recorded a double-double with 11 kills and 11 digs.
- Allison Birtcil contributed nine kills and seven digs.
- Taylor Haan registered her second consecutive double-double with 40 assists and 11 digs.
- On defense, Leonor Chambel had 17 digs, while Crites, Haan, and Lainey Lichota all reached double figures in digs, with Lichota contributing 10.
How It Happened

Set 1 (25-17): The Warriors built a 14-10 lead and extended it with a 6-1 run to make it 20-11. Shippensburg closed the gap with five straight points, but ESU responded by scoring five of the final six points to take a 1-0 lead.

Set 2 (25-21): The second set remained close throughout. After an Anna Coulter kill tied the set at 19-19, Shippensburg tallied four straight kills to lead 23-19. A Warrior kill and an ace brought ESU within two points, but Shippensburg finished with two more kills to tie the match.

Set 3 (25-22): ESU led 19-15, but Shippensburg closed the set on a 10-3 run to claim the third set and take a 2-1 lead in the match.

Set 4 (25-12): Shippensburg maintained momentum, jumping out to a 12-6 lead before going on a 10-0 run to secure the 3-1 victory.
