LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – For the first time in his career, East Stroudsburg University men's wrestling junior
Robert Burke was honored as the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Wrestling Athlete of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday.
Burke had a perfect 3-0 weekend at the Bob Quade Cyclone Open en route to his first collegiate first-place medal. All three wins were by first-period pins, including pinning a former NAIA national qualifier just over a minute into the first-place match.
Burke becomes the 10th Warrior in program history since 2004 to garner PSAC Wrestler of the Week honors and the first since teammate
Layton Schmick earned the honor last year after his own first-place finish at the Bob Quade Cyclone Open.
On the season, Burke is currently 10-7 overall with six pins.
ESU returns to action this weekend at the 45th Midwest Classic, hosted by the University of Indianapolis. The classic is scheduled for Dec. 14-15, with both days set to begin at 9:30 a.m.
