EAST STROUDSBURG – After leading the East Stroudsburg University men's basketball team in scoring, steals, and blocks, the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) announced Monday that Cam Young has been named the PSAC East Defensive Athlete of the Week.

In wins over Molloy, California (Pa.), and Edinboro, Young averaged 17 points, 3.3 rebounds, 3.3 assists, 4.0 steals, and 0.7 blocks per game. The Swedesboro, New Jersey, native shot an efficient 58.6% from the field and converted 13 of 14 attempts from the foul line.

Young led the charge in the 89-86 win over California (Pa.) with a career-high 27 points and posted five steals on defense against the Vulcans.

The senior is among the top defenders in the PSAC and NCAA Division II, ranking third overall in total steals and second in the conference behind Slippery Rock's Jomo Goings (32). Young's 2.0 steals per game rank seventh nationally.

This marks the third time this season that ESU has earned PSAC East weekly honors. Lakeem McAliley has received two awards, having been named PSAC East Athlete of the Week on Nov. 12 and PSAC East Defensive Athlete of the Week on Dec. 2.

This is the first PSAC East Defensive Athlete of the Week honor of Young's career.
