Women’s Track & Field Finishes Fifth at PSAC Indoor Championships

BETHLEHEM – The East Stroudsburg University women's track and field team concluded the 2024 PSAC Indoor Championships with the program's second consecutive fifth place finish on Monday at Rauch Fieldhouse.

The Warriors, who entered the day second in the team standings, finished with 56.5 points to find themselves one point shy of California (57.5) in fourth and one and half points behind Seton Hill in third place. Slippery Rock captured their seventh all-time title and first since 2020, while defending champion Shippensburg finished as the runner-up.

ESU scored 21 points on day two which included eight from freshman Bri Hennett in the 3000m, who finished as the runner-up with a personal-best time of 10:16.76. Hennett lowered her freshman record by 13 seconds and moved into 10th all-time in program history.

Running Highlights

The Warriors closed out the day strong on the track as the combination of Kayla Horning, Aaliyah Cancel, Destiny Thompson and Chloe Domurat took fourth place in the 4x400m with a season-best time of 4:00.65.

Earlier in the afternoon, Thompson recorded a seventh-place finish in the 60m dash as she ran a time of 7.76 seconds out of lane three. Back on the track in the 200m finals, Thompson finished fifth after crossing the line in 25.72.

In the mile, Holly Chambers scored one point for the Warriors with an eighth place finish after clocking a time of 5:19.07, while freshman Payton Falkenstein took 12th after crossing the line in 5:21.31.

Freshman Carla Bautista ran to a 12th-place finish in the 800m as the Kingston, N.Y. native clocked a time of 2:24.35.

Field Highlights

In the triple jump, freshman Anna Roth rounded out the top-10 after leaping a personal-best 10.92m on her final attempt and fellow classmate Samantha Rosado finished 15th at 10.49m (34-5).

Madison Horahan recorded an 11th place finish in the shot put as the junior recorded a mark of 11.79m (38-8 ¼) on her second attempt.

Following a busy first day of the championships, senior Elyssa Pemu returned to finish tied for 17th in the high jump after clearing 1.46m (4-9 ½).
