EAST STROUDSBURG – The Division II Conference Commissioners Association announced on Friday that East Stroudsburg University men's basketball forward
Lakeem McAliley was selected to the D2CCA All-Atlantic Region Second Team.
McAliley, who was named to the All-PSAC East First Team last week, led the Warriors to a 25-5 record in 2023-24, which ranks third all-time in wins in program history.
The Philadelphia native led the Warriors in scoring (17.3 ppg), field goal percentage (.563%) rebounding (5.9), blocks (22) and ranked second in steals (2.2). Among PSAC leaders, the Philadelphia native ranked 11th in scoring, 19th in rebounding, fourth in field goal percentage, 12th in free throw percentage, fourth in steals and 21st in blocks.
With a season of eligibility remaining, McAliley ranks among the all-time Warrior greats in program history in several categories He enters his redshirt senior season ranked eighth all-time in points (1434) and has the third most points following his junior season in program history. He ranks seventh in field goals made (543), seventh in field goal percentage (.563), 10th in 3-point field goal percentage (38.8), 10th in free throws made (282), ninth in free-throw percentage (.775), 21st in rebounds (512), tied for eighth in steals (159) and 14th in blocks (75) among Warriors all-time.
He became the first Warrior under head coach
Jeff Wilson (since 2002-03) to register 20-plus points in five consecutive games and extended the streak to six straight contests. He poured in at least 20 points against PSAC foes Shippensburg (22 pts.), Bloomsburg (20 pts.), Millersville (25 pts.), Kutztown (28 pts.), Mansfield (28 pts.) and Shepherd (20 pts.). He registered 20-plus points a total of 12 times in 2023-24, with a season-high mark of 32 against Pitt-Johnstown.
McAliley's all-region selection is the first of his career and marks the third consecutive season ESU has earned a D2CCA All-Region representative, with
Carlos Pepin being named to the second team in both 2022 and 2023.
Sports information directors from NCAA Division II Atlantic Region schools and conferences selected the two all-region teams. The process concludes with All-American selections announced later in the month. The Atlantic Region consists of schools from the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA), the Mountain East Conference (MEC), and the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC), along with independents Bluefield State and Salem.
The 2023-24 D2CCA All-Atlantic Region Men's Basketball Teams feature six players from the PSAC, three players from the MEC, and one player from the CIAA.
The team is sponsored by the Division II Conference Commissioners Association, which encourages and promotes Division II athletics and high standards of sportsmanship as important elements of higher education. The CCA is a key communications link among the conferences as they discuss views, policies and regulations that impact Division II intercollegiate athletics and works closely with the NCAA as a communications channel to NCAA Division II member colleges and universities.
