Gorham Shatters Discus School Record, Warriors Record Nine PSAC Marks at Two Meets

CHESTER, PA. & WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – Junior Cole Gorham eclipsed his own school record in the discus and the East Stroudsburg University men's track and field team combined for nine PSAC automatic qualifying marks at the Monmouth Spring Opener and Widener's Danny Curran Invitational on Friday.

Gorham, who earned All-America honors in the shot put at this year's NCAA Indoor Championships, won the discus at Monmouth's Kessler Stadium with a program record and NCAA provisional mark of 53.16m (174-5) on his final attempt. The Kingston native surpassed his previous best mark of 51.85m (170-1) set on April 23, 2022.

Recording conference automatic marks and times for the Warriors were Gorham (Discus), Isaac Almoney (Hammer Throw, Discus), Anthony Voto (Hammer Throw, Discus), Landon Boyle (10000m), Brian McGarrity (10000m), Bryce Keeny (10000m) and Ethan Holcomb (10000m) in their respective events.

Boyle paced a quartet of Warriors in the 10000m as the sophomore finished seventh with a personal-best and conference time of 31.36.12. McGarrity took 17th place with a PSAC automatic qualifying time of 32:13.97, Keenoy was 25th at 32:32.50 and Holcomb finished 30th after crossing the line in 32:56.10.

Monmouth Spring Opener

Alongside Gorham in the discus was Voto, who notched a sixth place finish after recording a mark 46.72m (153-3), while Almoney took 12th place at 43.01m. (141-1). Freshman Jacob Carney rounded out the finishes in 20th with a mark of 38.30m (125-8) in his ESU debut.

On his way to a runner-up finish in the hammer, Almoney recorded a conference automatic qualifying mark of 56.08m (184-0) on his second attempt, while Voto took sixth place with a throw of 51.51m (169-0). Sophomore Joshua Meshach finished 16th at 39.98m (131-2) and Carney was 20th with a mark of 36.17m (118-8).
