Warriors Lacrosse Drops to No. 5 in ILWomen/IWLCA DII Poll

EAST STROUDSBURG – After a 1-1 week that featured a loss against No. 2 West Chester and an 18-10 victory over Shepherd, the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association and USA Lacrosse announced that the East Stroudsburg University lacrosse team is now ranked fifth and 13th respectively in the latest national polls.

ESU fell 15-6 to West Chester, but bounced back to defeat Shepherd, 18-10 in its two games on the week. Emily Mitarotonda became the first Warrior to surpass 300 career points against the Golden Rams, while ESU head coach Xeni Barakos-Yoder became the program's all-time wins leader against Shepherd.

Among 107 NCAA Division II programs, ESU leads the nation in saves percentage (.608), ranks seventh in free-position percentage (23.5), 14th in scoring defense (8.38).

Among NCAA DII leaders, Emily Mitarotonda ranks seventh in caused turnovers per game (2.88), eighth in goals per game (4.38), ninth in points per game (5.88) 11th in free-position goals per game and 16th in free-position percentage (16th, .692).

Warrior goalkeeper Abby Simonetti continues to lead NCAA DII in save percentage and ranks eighth in goals-against average. The UMBC transfer ranks third in the PSAC in saves per game.

The Warriors head to Bloomsburg on Wednesday (2:00 p.m.) and return home to battle Shippensburg on Saturday at Noon for Senior Day.
