EAST STROUDSBURG – The East Stroudsburg University women's lacrosse team showcased grit, talent, and teamwork in a competitive NCAA Atlantic Region semifinal, falling 9–6 to No. 2 seed Slippery Rock on Friday afternoon at Whitenight Field.
The Warriors came out energized in front of their home crowd, with standout performances on both ends of the field. Freshman attacker
Sadie Kauffman paced the offense with two goals, including the game's opening score.
Hannah Schiemer matched her with two goals of her own, including a strong finish on a free-position shot in the fourth quarter.
Jolee Roth added a goal and an assist, while
Courtney Reynolds scored late to bring ESU within striking distance.
On the defensive end, goalkeeper
Abby Simonetti anchored the Warriors with an impressive 11 saves, consistently turning away high-quality looks from a potent Slippery Rock offense. The defense forced 12 turnovers and held The Rock scoreless for key stretches of play, including a shutout start in the opening quarter.
ESU also excelled in transition, converting 17-of-19 clear attempts, and maintained a strong presence on ground balls, finishing with 18 recoveries.
The Warriors wrap up an outstanding 2025 campaign with a 15-6 overall record, continuing their tradition of excellence and postseason success. With a strong core returning and a talented senior class leaving a lasting legacy, ESU women's lacrosse remains a top contender in the region and beyond.
