Women’s Track & Field Wraps Up Bison Outdoor Classic

LEWISBURG – The East Stroudsburg University women's track and field team wrapped up Bucknell's Bison Outdoor Classic on Sunday at Christy Mathewson-Memorial Stadium.  

Adding additional PSAC automatic qualifying times for the Warriors was Carla Bautista (800m) and Aaliyah Cancel (400m) in their respective events.

Running Highlights

The Warriors rounded out the top-10 in the 4x100m as the relay team of Cancel, Destiny Thompson, Kamya Edmonds and Ariel Kyle ran a time of 48.51.

Bautista recorded her second PSAC automatic qualifying mark of the outdoor season as the freshman posted a time of 2:21.74 in the 800m invitational.

In the 400m, Cancel clocked a personal-best and conference automatic qualifying time of 58.48 to finish 31st out of 93 runners.

On her way to a 16th place finish in the 100m, Thompson notched a personal-best time of 12.19 to move into a tie for sixth all-time in program history. Freshmen Chloe Domurat (53rd – 12.69) and Makayla Smith (80th – 13.03) also competed for ESU.

Thompson paced a handful of Warriors in the 200m as she clocked a season-best time of 25.11 to finish in 13. Also running in the event for ESU was Domurat (64th – 26.26), Cancel (70th – 26.42), Ariel Kyle (75th – 26.51) and Lauren Reed (119th – 28.32).

Smith returned to the track for the 400m hurdles where she took 44th place with a personal-best time of 1:09.22.

In the mile, freshman Mia Sisilli recorded a 34th place finish after clocking a time of 5:44.22.

Field Highlights

In the pole vault, Nickolina Annelli finished in a tie for 21st place as the season cleared the bar at 3.40m (11-3 ¾) on her first attempt.

Junior Samiyah Little recorded a sixth place finish in the hammer throw as she recorded a toss of 48.60m (159-5) on her second attempt.

In the triple jump, Edmonds (10.79m – 35-4 ¾) and Anna Roth (10.77m – 35-4) took 32nd and 33rd respectively.

Senior Olivia Sforza earned a 19th place finish in the javelin with a mark of 37.77m (123-11) on her second throw.

It's a quick turnaround for ESU as the Warriors travel to Shippensburg on Wednesday for the Mid-Week Invitational which is scheduled to get underway at 3 p.m. from Seth Grove Stadium
