MANHEIM, Pa. – The National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) announced that the East Stroudsburg University women's wrestling team has recorded the second-highest grade-point average in the nation, taking second place in the NCAA 2024 Women's Team Scholar All-America Top 15 rankings.
The Warriors compiled a grade-point average of 3.8023, which ranked second behind North Central's top mark of 3.8270.
The NWCA previously announced that ESU tied for the national lead with North Central with 14 NCAA Scholar All-Americans.
The 2024 campaign marked another successful season on the mat for the Warriors, who took 12th place of 49 teams at the NCWWC National Championships. Mia Macaluso became the first three-time NCWWC All-America selection in program history, taking sixth place at 123.
ESU took third place of 12 teams at the NCWWC Region 1 Championships and defended its PA Women's Collegiate State Championships at Koehler Fieldhouse. Zoe Gress claimed a regional and state championship, while Macaluso, Olivia Klein, and Natalie Dunn earned individual state championships.
Mike Moyer, Executive Director of NWCA, commended these student-athletes dedication and academic prowess, remarking, "We are immensely proud to acknowledge the exceptional commitment displayed by these athletes, who exemplify remarkable dedication both on and off the wrestling mat. Our heartfelt congratulations extend to all the teams for their outstanding accomplishments.
ESU posted a dual meet record of 13-2 during the 2024 season.
