EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. — The ESU women's wrestling team was well represented in the final Region 2 rankings before the penultimate meet of the year, placing a wrestler in the top six in nine of the 10 weight classes, including two first-place rankings.
Ragan Retell and
Tiffani Baublitz are the two Warriors who end the regular season at the top of their classes, with Retell wrestling at 138 pounds and Baublitz at 160 pounds. Both finished as the runners-up at the FSU Bobcat Open at the Warriors' last competition, as Retell is 21-5 on the season and Baublitz is 8-2.
Two wrestlers are second in their weight classes, with
Teegan Sibble (24-4) holding her rank at 110 pounds and
Yianna Foufas (14-7) moving up one spot at 117 pounds. In third place,
Olivia Klein (18-8) also jumped one spot at 103 pounds, while
Maddie Westerberg (17-3) remained third at 180 pounds. Rounding out the rankings for ESU were
Olivia Palmer (18-7) in fifth place at 124 pounds,
Gianna Amendola (21-9) in fifth place at 124 pounds, and
Selina Moore (19-6) in sixth place at 145 pounds.
The Warriors are preparing for postseason competition, with next on the schedule being the NCAA Regional II Championships. The tournament begins on Friday, Feb. 20 in West Liberty, Va.
