EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. — The ESU women's wrestling team won the PA Collegiate State Championships for the fourth-straight year, winning three brackets and having 14 wrestlers score for the Warriors. ESU finished with 85.5 points, 22.5 ahead of second-place Lock Haven.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The three bracket winners for the Warriors were Olivia Klein (103), Teegan Sibble (110), and Ragan Retell (138). Klein and Sibble both went 2-0, while Retell won three matches for her championship. All three won their first two matches by fall and then technical fall. In Retell's final match, she won by a tiebreaker with the score 8-8.
- A trio of Warriors earned second place in their brackets, with Yianna Foufas (117), Gianna Amendola (131), and Maddie Westerberg (180). Foufas went 2-1 with wins by fall and technical fall, Amendola was 2-1 with both wins by technical fall, and Westerberg split her two matches while winning her first by fall.
- The Warriors had six third-place finishers across the brackets: Tiana Savino (110), Isabella Washington-Vasquez (117), Olivia Palmer (124), Angelina Hiller (138), Marlo Williams (160), and Patricia Deslandes (207). Savino went 1-1 with a pin, Washington-Vasquez pinned two opponents in her three wins, Palmer had two technical falls in her four wins, Hiller won twice by fall and once by technical fall, Williams pinned her first two opponents before a decision win, and Deslandes won both her wins via fall.
- The other placements for ESU were Ariel Manning (131, fourth place), Carney Wyble (138, sixth place), Selina Moore (145, fourth place), Jade Huerta (160, sixth place), Zoey Lake (180, fourth place).
