Men’s Track & Field Wins Four Events at Shippensburg’s Mid-Week Invitational

SHIPPENSBURG – The East Stroudsburg University men's track and field team won four events at Shippensburg's Mid-Week Invitational on Wednesday afternoon at Seth Grove Stadium. 

Winning their respective events for the Warriors was Kobe Jenkins (110m hurdles), Cole Gorham (discus), Miguel Charlery (200m) and Jack Gorham (triple jump).

Additionally adding PSAC automatic qualifying marks or times in their respective events were Liam Beifus (110m hurdles), Charlery (100m), Tyler Boone (100m), Charlery (200m), Samuel Chedester (long jump) and Daniel Smith (long jump).

Running Highlights

On his way to capturing the title in the 110m hurdles, Jenkins clocked a season-best time of 14.56 out of Heat 1, while Beifus finished sixth with a PSAC automatic qualifying mark of 15.45.

The Warriors went one-two in the 200m as Charlery claimed the top spot with a time of 21.85, while Boone followed as the runner-up after crossing the line in 21.97. Also recording top-10 finishes for ESU was Bryson Gilchrist (22.38) in sixth and Ryan Ditty (22.78) in ninth.

In the 100m, Charlery finished as the runner-up with a personal-best, PSAC automatic qualifying and fifth-best time in school history at 10.67. Boone took fifth place after clocking a personal-best time of 10.75, which puts him at ninth all-time in the program record books, while Ragiariki Lewis (11.02) and Justin Gockley (11.03) were 11th and 12th respectively.

A trio of the seven Warriors competing in the 400m finished inside the top-10 as Ditty was the runner-up with a season-best time of 49.12 while Zephyr Crestwell was right behind in third place at 49.44. Sophomore Jaylen Morrison claimed a ninth place finish after crossing the line in 50.37, while Lewis (11th – 50.96), Beifus (20th – 52.47), Evan Clark (15th – 51.51) and Caleb Diaz (23rd – 53.08) also ran for ESU.

Field Highlights

The reigning PSAC Field Athlete of the Week was up to his usual tricks as Cole Gorham took first place in the discus for the fourth time this outdoor season with a throw of 51.77m (169-10). Sophomore Anthony Voto was not far behind in fourth after recording a mark of 46.16m (151-5) while Josh Meshach (40.96m – 134-4) and Jacob Carney (36.58m – 120-0) took 13th and 20th place respectively.

On his way to a first place finish in the triple, Jack Gorham recorded a season-best mark of 14.26m (46-9 ½) on his second attempt.

Cole Gorham returned to shot put where he recorded a runner-up finish as the junior notched a toss of 16.96m (55-7 ¾) on his final attempt while Issac Almoney took ninth at 14.35m (47-1).

Chedester led a quartet of Warriors in the long jump as the freshman took fourth after leaping 6.91m (22-8) while Smith finished fifth place at 6.89m (22-7 ¼) as both recorded PSAC automatic qualifying marks. Nasir Heard finished eighth at 6.54m (21-5 ½) and Gilchrist took 12th place with a mark of 6.41m (21-0 ½).

Led by a runner-up finish from Drew Domurat in the high jump, ESU finished second through fourth place as the freshman cleared the bar at a season-best height of 1.98m (6-6) on his first attempt. Junior Aaron Sanchez and sophomore Jaden Johnson were third and fourth place respectively as the duo both eclipsed the bar at a season-best mark 1.93m (6-4).

In the pole vault, freshman Carlton Wise secured a third place finish after clearing the bar at 3.75m (12-3 ½) on his first attempt.

Almoney and Voto recorded second and third place finishes for ESU in the hammer as the duo recorded throws of 56.11m (184-1) and 55.10m (180-9) respectively.

A trio a Warriors finished in the top-10 of the javelin as freshmen Nicholas Cruz (50.63m – 166-1), Marcus McNeil (161-1) and Jace Hersh (47.83m – 156-11) took fifth, seventh and 10th place.
