SHIPPENSBURG – It was a historic Friday afternoon for East Stroudsburg University women's track and field thrower Samiyah Little as the junior captured the hammer throw title on the opening day of the 2024 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Outdoor Championships at Seth Grove Stadium.
Little, who took home the weight throw crown at the 2024 PSAC Indoor Championships, became the first thrower in program history to record a first-place finish in the hammer at the conference meet after recording a mark of 52.03m (170-8) on her second attempt.
Through two events, the Warriors totaled 10 points and are tied for third with Seton Hill and Shippensburg for third in the team standings.
Heptathlon Highlights
Through the first four events of the heptathlon, senior Elyssa Pemu sits in 10th place after totaling 2554 points.
Opening the heptathlon with the 100m hurdles, Pemu recorded a 13th place finish after clocking a personal-best time of 16.03.
Moving to the high jump, Pemu finished in a tie for sixth with California's (PA) Kat Henderson as she cleared the bar at a season-best height of 1.58m (5-2 ¼).
Pemu rounded out the top 10 in the shot put as the senior tossed the spherical ball a personal-best mark of 9.20m (30-2 ¼) on her first attempt.
Wrapping up the day with the 200m, the South Park, Pa. native finished in 12th place with a personal-best time of 27.71.
Field Highlights
Also competing in the hammer throw for the Warriors was Anna Roth as the sophomore finished 17th with a mark of 36.01m (118-1).
