ESU Cruises Past Golden Bears on the Road

EAST STROUDSBURG – Despite its three leading scorers entering the contest being held to a combined 18 points, the East Stroudsburg University men's basketball team used a dominant 27-9 second-half surge to take down Kutztown, 88-69, on Wednesday evening inside Keystone Arena.

The Warriors (15-5, 9-4 PSAC) remain in third place in the PSAC East with the victory, while the Golden Bears (7-13, 3-10) dropped their second consecutive game.

Nasir Griffin (19 points, 8-12 FG) and Ethan Millirons (18 points, 6-8 FG, 5-7 3PT) combined for 37 points on an efficient 14-of-20 shooting performance to lead the Warriors.


Notables

  • Griffin added seven rebounds, four assists, a block, and a steal to his stat line.
  • Millirons knocked down five of his seven attempts from beyond the arc and collected four steals.
  • Carson Howard also reached double figures, finishing with 11 points.
  • Jalen Pichardo neared a double-double, leading ESU on the glass with 11 rebounds while adding eight points and three assists.
  • Cam Young paced the Warriors with five assists and three steals.
  • The Warriors forced 21 Kutztown turnovers, converting those extra possessions into 30 points.

How It Happened

  • ESU jumped out to a 17-13 lead before igniting an 18-0 run to take a commanding 35-13 advantage. The Golden Bears responded with an 18-7 spurt to close the half, trimming the Warriors' lead to 42-31 at the break.
  • After Kutztown opened the second half with a 3-pointer, ESU took complete control with a 27-9 sprint, extending its lead to 69-43—its largest of the game. From that point forward, the Warriors maintained at least a 19-point cushion en route to the 88-69 victory.
