SPARKILL, N.Y. – The East Stroudsburg University field hockey team had a tremendous offensive performance on the road, defeating St. Thomas Aquinas, 9-1, on Monday. The victory pushes the Warriors' season record to 9-2.
ESU showcased complete dominance throughout the match, holding advantages in every statistical category. The Warriors registered 40 total shots compared to St. Thomas Aquinas's three. Of those 40 shots, 27 were placed on goal, testing Spartan goalkeeper Ailsa Ogilvie, who managed to collect 16 saves in the loss. ESU also commanded the penalty corner battle, earning 21 corners while giving up only one to the Spartans.

Emma Friend (two goals, one assist) and
Minke Klijn (one goal, two assists) led the offensive attack, each contributing to three scores.
Hannah Schmittinger tallied two assists for ESU.

How it Happened
The Warriors established control immediately, scoring three goals in the opening quarter.
Friend wasted no time, scoring the unassisted opening goal just 1:39 into the game. McGrath followed suit with an unassisted score at the 10:59 mark. Schmittinger earned her first assist of the day when she set up Rafter for the third goal at 12:20. ESU fired off 17 shots in the first period alone.
The offensive pressure continued into the second quarter when de Ruiter scored at 20:42, assisted by Schmittinger, bringing the lead to 4-0. St. Thomas Aquinas responded at 21:56 with a goal from Brianna Cote, assisted by Morgan VanDover, making the halftime score 4-1.
The Warriors tacked on four goals in the third quarter. Moline scored unassisted at 32:54, followed swiftly by Klijn, assisted by
Emma Friend, at 34:45. Friend secured her second goal at 42:27, this time assisted by Klijn. Klijn then picked up her second assist of the period by setting up
Elaiana Rivera-Lagalla at 44:43, pushing the advantage to 8-1 heading into the final frame.
The scoring concluded in the fourth quarter when Moore found the back of the net at 58:17, assisted by
Nicole Conklin, finalizing the 9-1 scoreline.
