EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. — The ESU men's wrestling team is climbing up the National Wrestling Coaches Association Super Region 1 rankings, coming in at 4
th in behind Pitt-Johnstown, Kutztown, and Gannon.
The Warriors earned 47 points in the poll, putting them ahead of Frostburg State, Seton Hill, and Millersville. ESU has jumped out to a 7-1 start in duals, with its only loss coming against Division I Virginia.
Along with the team success,
Luke Ciampa was ranked 13
th in Division II in the 184-pound weight class, and six other earned individual regional rankings in their respective weight classes. Ciampa's 13th-plcae national ranking earned the Warriors 1.5 points in the national team rankings as well.
Brady Carter and Ciampa headline the group, coming in at third in the 125-pound weight class and 184-pound weight class, respectively.
Austin Noe,
Gavin Reynolds, and
Ajay Hiller each earned fourth-place rankings in the 149-, 157-, and 285-pound weight classes. Rounding out the group are
Anthony Lawrence and
Robert Burke, who come in at sixth place at 165- and 197-pounds.
The Warriors return from winter break to compete at the Virginia Duals starting Jan. 10 in Hampton, Va.
