Men's Basketball to Begin PSAC Crossover Against Seton Hill

12/5/2025 1:11:00 PM

EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. — The ESU men's basketball team begins its conference schedule with a PSAC East-West crossover matchup against the Seton Hill Griffins. ESU comes into the game with a perfect 6-0 record, while the Griffins are right behind them with a 6-1 start to the season.

SCOUTING EAST STROUDSBURG

  • ESU has gotten off to a 6-0 start to the 2025-26 season as the Warriors head into conference play, its best season-opening stretch since the 2022-23 campaign when they won eight straight. The Warriors have garnered some national recognition for their start, as they have received the second-most votes of teams outside the top 25 in the NABC Poll.
  • The Warriors’ calling card so far this year has been their offense, averaging 98.3 points per game, ESU currently owns the fifth-best scoring offense in Division II. Though their opponents still score an average of 82.0 points per game, the Warriors mean scoring margin is 16.3 points, 33rd in Division II.
  • What has given opposing defenses issues in trying to stop the ESU offense is the Warriors’ scoring depth. ESU currently has seven different players scoring over 10 points a game in every position on the floor. Leading the way is freshman forward Adrian Brito. The first-year has seen his role grow game-by-game, earning more playing time and touches, and is coming off his first 20-point performance in Tuesday’s win over Molloy.
  • Brito is just one of two freshmen coming off the bench to average double-digit scoring, as Keni Williams has made an instant impact over his first six appearances. Williams has been both a scorer and facilitator for the Warriors, recording 10+ points four times and five or more assists three times.
  • ESU’s starting five has featured three players in every game so far: Ethan Maynard, Nasir Griffin, and Jalen Pichardo. Griffin is starting to settle in offensively after a slow start for his standards, recording 18- and 17-point performances in his last two games. Maynard has been one of ESU’s best shooters, as he’s made 40.5 of his attempts from beyond the arc on over six attempts a game. Pichardo is seventh in the PSAC in rebounding per game with 8.2 and fifth in offensive rebounds per game with 3.2. The junior is coming off of games with 17 and 13 rebounds, the two best
  • Christian Pierre-Louis and Carson Howard have been thrusted into starting roles due to
injuries, but the duo hasn’t missed a beat stepping into their new roles. Howard set
career-highs in scoring and blocks in his first start against Mercy, putting up 22 points and swatting four shots. Pierre-Louis has played over half of the games he started, recording his first 10-point game of his career in ESU’s last time out against Molloy.
  • ESU’S best three-point shooter this season has been guard Ethan Millirons. The senior has come off the bench in all six games, but his impact on the offense has been crucial to the Warriors’ winning formula through six games. Millirons is shooting 52.6% from three-point distance on 6.3 attempts per game.

SCOUTING SETON HILL

  • The Griffins come into the contest with a 6-1 record with their lone loss coming against Glenville State, 86-76. In their last game on Monday, Seton Hill took down Shippensburg in a non-PSAC matchup, winning 88-83 at home.
  • Seton Hill’s leading scorer is Edir Ortiz, a redshirt sophomore forward from San Juan, Puerto Rico. The NBA Academy Latin America graduate averages 17.1 PPG, ninth-most in the PSAC. Ortiz has been efficient scoring from inside the paint and deep, putting up a shooting line of .479/.424/.696.
Defensively, Ortiz is the Griffins’ second-leading rebounder with 7.3 RPG and averages just under two blocks per game with 1.7
  • The Griffins have two other players averaging over 15.0 points per game with Dimitrios Sklavenitis, 16.3, and Kedrick Curtis, 16.1. Sklavenitis, a junior guard from Greece, has been an effective scoring guard for Seton Hill, making 47.4% of his 13.0 attempts per game. Curtis boasts a 52.6% field goal percentage on the same amount of attempts while also leading the Griffins with 4.9 assists per game and 8.4 rebounds per game.
  • Seton Hill ranks fairly average compared to the rest of the PSAC in terms of scoring offense, defense, and margin, averaging 86.9 points per contest and allowing 78.0, good for an 8.9 average scoring margin.
  • The strength and weakness that jumps out when looking at Seton Hill in comparison to the conference is their field goal percentage offense and
defense. Scoring-wise, the Griffins have had no trouble at all putting the ball in the basket, making 36.9% of their three-point attempts and 38.9% of their field goal attempts. However, the Griffins allow their opponents to make 48.0% of their attempts from the field and 36.4 of their attempts from beyond the arc, the second- and third-worst marks in the PSAC, respectively.
  • While the Griffins only average 34.4 rebounds per game, the second-fewest in the PSAC, they do a good job of limiting their opponents rebounds to balance that out. Teams going against Seton Hill have only averaged 32.7 rebounds per game, the third best in the conference.
  • Another strength that stands out for Seton Hill’s offense is its ability to limit turnovers. The Griffins own the best average turnover margin, 5.43, in the conference and the second-best assist/turnover ratio, 1.72.

SERIES HISTORY

  • The Warriors are 6-2 all-time against the Griffins, though they have split their last two meetings, both at Seton Hill. When the two teams met last season, the Warriors took down the Griffins, 80-72. Ethan Millirons led ESU in scoring with 17 points on 5-of-11 shooting from three-point distance.
  • Head coach Jeff Wilson has been on the ESU bench for all eight games between the two programs, while this is Wilkins' third time coaching against the Warriors. East Stroudsburg lost its first game against Seton Hill, 98-93, in 2010. The game was played at a neutral site in Erie, Pa.
  • From 2015-2021, the Warriors won five straight contests against the Griffins, three at home and two on the road. The closest game was a road win in 2015, 82-71, though the two teams did go to overtime in 2018. However, the Warriors outscored the Griffins 19-2 in the extra period to win 84-67.
  • The largest margin of victory in the all-time series was a 27-point win, 91-63, which was the last time these two teams played in Koehler Fieldhouse back in 2021
