EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. — The ESU men's team suffered its first loss of the 2025-26 season Saturday afternoon, falling to Seton Hill, 93-85
NOTABLES
- After a quiet offensive first half, Ethan Millirons gave the ESU offense life with his three-point shooting. Millirons scored a career-high 23 points, going 7-for-9 from distance, the first time he's scored over 20 points as a Warrior.
- Alongside Millirons was Maynard, as the sophomore guard had his best offensive performance as a Warrior with 22 points. Maynard went 6-of-10 from three-point range and 8-14 from the field, playing 33 minutes for ESU.
- Adrian Brito had another solid outing, putting up 14 points on 66.7% shooting, converting five free throw attempts as well.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Both teams entered the contest with a reputation for their offenses, but the first half featured each defensive unit more than anything. After the first 20 minutes, Seton Hill led 33-29. It was the fewest points scored in a half this season for ESU and tied Seton Hill's second-fewest points in a half.
- The Griffins came out of the break and extended their lead with a 13-4 run in the first nine minutes. Once Millirons came back on the floor, the ESU offense slowly started to claw its way back into the game. Millirons went through a 5:01 stretch where he went 4-for-4 from three-point range, scoring 12 of ESU's 17 points to trim Seton Hill's lead, 57-51, with 11:20 remaining.
- A step-back three-pointer from Brito and a pair of free throws from Keni Williams made it a one-possession game with 4:49 left. Back-to-back threes on the offensive end from Maynard made it 71-70 with just over three minutes remaining.
- The Griffins got a couple of buckets to extend their lead and force stops to hold a 77-72 lead with 56 seconds left. Off an inbounds play under the Seton Hill basket, Millirons lost his man in traffic and got open at the top of the arc, as Jalen Pichardo found him for a quick three. When the Griffins tried bringing the ball up the floor, Maynard jumped a passing lane at midcourt and raced to the basket for the game-tying layup with 30 seconds left, making it 77-77. It was the first time in 25:41 of game time that the Warriors were not trailing. ESU forced a miss on a deep three late in the clock and send the game to overtime.
- The Griffins were able to rebuild their lead as ESU's offense went dry, scoring the first 10 points of the overtime period. By the time the Warriors were able to start scoring, the clock wound down and Seton Hill came away with the 93-85 win.
GAME NOTES
- The six-straight wins to start the year were ESU's most since the 2022-23 season. The Griffins also spoiled the Warriors' start that year with their first loss.
- Millirons and Maynard shot a combined 13-of-19 from three-point range, but as a team, ESU shot just 14-of-35.
