EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. — The East Stroudsburg women's basketball team fell to Seton Hill in their conference opener on Saturday afternoon inside Koehler Fieldhouse, 78-70.
The Warriors are now 5-2 overall and 0-1 in conference play while the Griffins improved to 5-2 overall and 1-0 in conference action.

Lacie Kringe led the team with 17 points and nine rebounds. Brie Droege followed with 16 points, Brooke Droege scored 14, and Avery White rounded out the double-digit scorers with 12. White led the team with four steals while the Warriors combined for 17. Leading ESU in assists was also White with six, while Brooke and Kringe each posted four.
How it Happened
Seton Hill scored the first four points before Brooke Droege answered with consecutive baskets to tie the score at 4-4. Kringe added two baskets, and Brie Droege grabbed the team's third steal and converted with a jumper, 10-4. Brie's layup at 4:27 put the Warriors ahead by 10 points, 18-8. ESU extended their lead to 12-points with baskets from Brooke and White, 22-10. Seton Hill's Helene Cowan ended the first quarter with an eight-point run to cut the Warriors' lead to 22-20.
Brooke opened the second quarter with a basket, but the Griffins responded with a 10-point run to move ahead, 30-24. Brie Droege responded with two baskets around the five minute mark to put the Warriors within two, 30-28. At 3:36, Brie scored her 10th point of the day to tie the score at 30 each. Seton Hill then put up six unanswered points before White scored on a layup at 0:52 off an Emma Thornton rebound and assist. Kringe added a late basket to send ESU into halftime trailing by two, 38-36.
White broke the Warriors' scoring drought in the third quarter with a three pointer at 3:28, cutting the deficit to 43-39. ESU went 6-for-6 at the free throw line to pull within two, 47-45. Kringe added a layup before two Griffin free throws ended the quarter with the Warriors down 51-47.
Kringe opened the fourth with a jumper at 8:30, but Seton Hill capitalized on turnovers with three straight baskets to go up 58-49. After an ESU timeout, Emma Thornton scored off a Brooke Droege assist at 7:15. Jess Devine followed with her first points of the game, a three-pointer at 6:58. The Warriors added three baskets before the Griffins added two of their own. Brie made a steal and Devine converted at 2:13 to pull ESU back within nine points, 73-64. A final steal from Kringe set up a three pointer by White, closing the game with the Warriors falling by eight.
