WEST CHESTER, Pa. – The East Stroudsburg University men's basketball team battled until the final seconds but lost to West Chester, 84-80, at Hollinger Field House.
The Warriors (19-6, 13-5) remain in the No. 2 spot in the PSAC East, while the Golden Rams (20-5, 15-3) hold the No. 1 spot with three games remaining in the regular season.
Notables
Cam Young led ESU with 18 points, including 11 of 14 from the free-throw line.
Ethan Millirons knocked down three 3-pointers and finished with 13 points.
Evan Morton provided a spark with 11 points and three assists.
Shemar Wilbanks-Acqui also finished with 11 points on 5-of-7 shooting from the floor, including a 3-pointer.
Jalen Pichardo controlled the glass with eight rebounds and four points.
The game saw many trips to the line, with both teams combining for 79 free-throw attempts.
How it Happened
In the first half, like most of the game was closely contested with West Chester holding a 42-41 advantage at the break.
The second half was a back-and-forth battle for the lead. With just over four minutes to go, ESU trailed by nine.
The Warriors went on an 11-3 run, led by six points from Young, to bring the game within one with 51 seconds remaining.
West Chester knocked down three free throws in the final seconds to claim the victory and maintain control of the top spot in the PSAC East.
