MANSFIELD, Pa. – The East Stroudsburg University men's basketball team defeated Mansfield 86-73 to claim a season sweep after winning by 72 points last month.
With this win, The Warriors (20-6, 14-5 PSAC) strengthens their position in the second spot of the PSAC EAST, while the Mountaineers (8-18, 5-15 PSAC) looks to regroup heading into their last matchup of the season against at Shippensburg.
Notables
Evan Morton led ESU with 20 points, hitting four three-pointers and converting all four free-throw attempts.
Lakeem McAliley contributed 12 points and seven rebounds despite limited minutes.
Jalen Pichardo added 11 points, five rebounds, and three assists.
The Warriors' bench played a crucial role, scoring 42 points in the win.
How it Happened
In the beginning of the first half, the Warriors and Mounties were showing off with back-and-forth points for a close game. However, the Warriors outscored Mansfield in the last two minutes with a 13-0 run to enter halftime 48-34.
Mansfield fought hard in the second half to get as close to East Stroudsburg by five points with 17 minutes left. Back-to-back threes by
Evan Morton helped the Warriors increase their margin by 11 points. Despite that, the Mounties were three points behind with 6 minutes left in the game.
From that point on McAliley helped lead a 15-8 run on the back of nine points of his own to pick up the victory for ESU.
