EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. — No. 18 East Stroudsburg University swept its first doubleheader against D'Youville on Sunday, winning 3-0 and 13-3.
The Warriors (4-0) secured their second straight doubleheader sweep and will look to complete the four-game series sweep against the Saints (0-2) on Monday.
Pitching Notables
Ryan Dewees (2-0) tossed five shutout innings, allowing just two hits while earning his second win of the season.
The bullpen of Ryan Cavanaugh, Caden Leonard and Patrick Yoder combined for five innings, allowing no earned runs and only two hits while striking out six.
Batting Notables
Francisco Taveras reached base five times, scored three runs and drove in three.
Easton Albert led the team with four hits, scored twice and recorded an RBI.
Troy Davis reached base four times, scoring four runs while adding three hits and two RBIs.
Cameron Hubbard tallied three hits across both games and drove in two runs in Game 2.
Game 1 Recap
After going down in order in the first inning, ESU loaded the bases in the second but failed to capitalize.
The Warriors broke through in the third with three hits, including a Davis RBI single that drove in Wall for the second run of the inning.
In the fifth, Davis scored again after a Taveras RBI single, securing a 3-0 win. Parker Caden recorded his first save of the season, striking out the side in the final frame.
Game 2 Recap
The Warriors' offense exploded in Game 2, scoring two four-run innings. In the second, Davis and Taveras hit RBI doubles, with Taveras driving in two. Hubbard added an RBI single.
ESU posted another four-run inning in the fourth, with Rothenhausler, Hubbard, Wall and Albert each driving in runs.
The Warriors added three more runs in the seventh, fueled by contributions from Aiden Butz, Rothenhausler and Ryan Manning, sealing a 13-3 victory.
