EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. – The East Stroudsburg University baseball team completed its four-game sweep of D'Youville on Monday afternoon. The Warriors outscored their opponents by 33 runs in the series.
ESU (6-0) extended its winning streak to six games, powered by strong performances from both its pitching staff and offense. D'Youville (0-4) will look to regroup as it continues its road trip down south.
Pitching Notables
In Game 1,
Cole Dymek earned his first win of the season, while
Caden Parker picked up his second save.
In Game 2,
Ethan Woods secured his first victory of the year, throwing five scoreless innings.
Batting Notables
Shanley Wall led the offense, hitting a home run in each game and driving in six runs.
Dennis Pierce finished with four RBIs and recorded hits in six of his seven at-bats, including four doubles.
Jack Rothenhausler and
Parker Frey each contributed three hits and four RBIs.
Game 1 Recap
In the closest game of the season, D'Youville held a 3-1 lead in the third inning before ESU tied it in the fourth on Wall's home run and Frey's RBI single.
Pierce and Rothenhausler extended the lead to two, but the Saints cut the deficit to one in the sixth. However,
Jake Albert and Parker silenced the D'Youville bats to secure the win.
Game 2 Recap
The series finale mirrored Sunday's blowout victory, as the Warriors once again won by 10 or more runs. ESU broke the game open with a four-run third inning, followed by three runs in the fourth and five in the fifth.
Woods,
Jaden Newton,
Greyson Norris, and
Andrew Gormley combined for nine strikeouts while allowing just one run over seven innings.
