ESU Splits Doubleheader in Home Opener

EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. — No. 16 East Stroudsburg University split its doubleheader against Seton Hill on Sunday in its home opener.
The Warriors (7-3) took the first game, while the Griffins (2-2) responded with a victory in the second game to earn the split.
 
Pitching Notables
Sarah Davenport (6-0) pitched a complete game, allowing two runs and striking out 16 batters, the most by a Warrior in a single game since 2002.
 
Batting Notables
Tatum Kresley continued her impressive performance, collecting four hits, three RBIs, two runs scored, and a stolen base.

Kinsley Proepper had two hits, including a towering three-run home run.

Abigail Weirich finished with two hits, two stolen bases, an RBI, and a run scored.
 
Game 1 Recap
Seton Hill took an early 2-1 lead, but the Warriors responded with consecutive three-run innings. In the third, Kresley and Weirich delivered RBI singles, while Tulana Mingin added an RBI triple.

The following inning, Taylor Lipkins hit an RBI single, and Kresley followed with a two-RBI double to left field, extending the lead to 7-2.

Davenport kept the Griffins' bats mostly quiet with her dominant 16-strikeout performance.
 
Game 2 Recap
ESU struck first with an RBI from Mingin, scoring Kresley. Seton Hill then responded with six unanswered runs to take a 6-1 lead.

The Warriors fought back in the fourth, as Proepper launched a three-run home run to center field, cutting the deficit to 6-4.

The Griffins added another run in the seventh and held on for a 7-4 win to split the doubleheader.

The Warriors return to action Monday, Feb. 24, with a doubleheader against Bloomfield at Creekview Park. First pitch is scheduled for noon.
