East Stroudsburg Sweeps Bloomfield with Dominant Performances

EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. – The East Stroudsburg University softball team had it's first home sweep of the season against Bloomfield this Monday afternoon after beating the bears 18-0, and 8-0 at Creekview Park.

The Warriors (9-3) excelled in all phases of the game. On the other hand, Bloomfield (0-2) started their season off in rough shape.

Pitching Notables
Sarah Davenport (7-0) pitched all five innings, striking out 13, and allowed just two hits in the first game.

Also for the Warriors, freshman Faith Troyer earned her first collegiate win pitching 3.1 innings, striking out three at bats and allowing one hit.

Batting Notables
Transfer Tatum Kresley finished the day with four hits, five runs, and 2 RBIs.

Senior Shannon Edelman hit a grand slam in the first game.

Finally, left fielder Abigail Weirich went 5-6 at bat with one solo home run, four hits, and five RBIs.

Game 1 Recap
East Stroudsburg made an emphatic statement in the opener, exploding for 12 first inning runs in route to an 18-0 victory in five innings.

Shannon Edelman and Lace Tangianau powered the offense, each belting home runs, with Tangianau's being an inside the parker.

Abigail Weirich continued her hot streak, going 3-for-3 with three RBIs and three stolen bases.

Game 2 Recap

The Warriors completed the sweep with another shutout, securing an 8-0 victory in five innings. Faith Troyer (1-1) and Abbie Landrum combined for a one-hit shutout.

The offense came alive in the third and fourth innings, highlighted by an RBI triple from Tatum Kresley and a solo home run by Abigail Weirich. East Stroudsburg tallied 11 hits in 4 innings.
