Kochmansky Wins 500th Career Game in Doubleheader Sweep of Saint Anselm

EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. – The East Stroudsburg University baseball team swept Saint Anselm in the first two games of a four-game series on Friday.
 
ESU (8-0) extended its winning streak to eight games, powered by a balanced offense and strong pitching. With the Warriors' second win, head coach John Kochmansky earned his 500th career victory. In the PSAC, Kochmansky is one of four active coaches with 500 or more wins and ranks seventh all-time in conference history.
 
Pitching Notables
In Game 1, Ryan Dewees (3-0) pitched five innings, recording six strikeouts. Johansel Brito followed with a hitless sixth inning before Caden Parker secured his third save of the season.
 
In Game 2, Jake Albert picked up the first win of his career. Gavin Sopko faced 18 batters, striking out five in four innings.
 
Batting Notables
Jack Rothenhausler drove in two runs in Game 1, including the go-ahead RBI in the fifth inning.
 
Francisco Taveras powered the Warriors' offense in Game 2, recording three hits and two RBIs, including the game-winning run in the seventh.
 
Dennis Pierce had two hits, drew two walks and scored twice on the day.
 
Game 1 Recap
After two strikeouts from Dewees in the first inning, Rothenhausler opened the scoring with an RBI double.
 
Walker Zampella stole two bases in the bottom of the second and scored on a Connor Reilly RBI.
 
Saint Anselm battled back, tying the game 2-2 with two runs in the fourth.
 
Rothenhausler responded by driving in Pierce in the bottom of the fifth to put ESU back in front.
 
Brito tossed a hitless sixth before Parker closed out the seventh, earning his third save of the season as ESU secured a 4-2 victory.
 
Game 2 Recap
Parker Frey gave the Warriors an early lead with an RBI single in the first, scoring Taveras.
 
The Hawks tied the game in the fourth, but the Warriors regained the lead in the bottom half after a single from Shanley Wall brought home Ryan Manning and Troy Davis.
 
Saint Anselm responded again in the fifth, tying the game at 3-3, and both teams traded runs in the sixth, setting up a 4-4 deadlock heading into the seventh.
 
After a quick three outs from the Hawks, the Warriors loaded the bases with two outs for Taveras. On a full count, he ripped a line drive into the outfield, securing the walk-off win and marking Kochmansky's 500th career victory.

The Warriors return to Creekview Park Saturday, March 1, for a doubleheader against Saint Anselm, with games set for 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.
